What is expansion?

-Expanding is removing the brackets [ ( ) ] in an equation.
-Expansion is a way of breaking up numbers to show how much each number is worth
-Expansion makes the equation larger and more extensive.
EXAMPLES OF EXPANSION:
  • 2(x+3) = 2x + 6

What is factorisation?

-factorisation is finding the factors of the digit
-breaking down an object into a product of another digit
-when the object is multiplied by a digit, the original number is formed
-factorisation usually makes the equation neater and shortens it
EXAMPLES OF FACTORISATION:

Difference between factorisation and expansion:
-factorisation is the exact opposite of expansion
- expansion is opening up the brackets while factorisation is simplifying the question

PERSONAL REFLECTION ON CHAPTER 3&4:
At first when i just started learning the chapter, i didn't understand but after i practiced many times at home and in school, i grasped the concept and it was much easier than i thought it would be. I realised the importance of doing practices be it in school or at home in order to understand the chapters and concepts and if we want to do well.
